New research results from a COAPT study examined the effect MitraClip had on heart failure patients.
With the help from co-investigator Michael J. Mack, MD, medical director of cardiovascular surgery at Baylor Scott & White Health and Chairman of BSW The Heart Hospital – Plano Research Center, researchers studied the coupling of guideline-directed medical therapy plus MitraClip.
When the paired therapy plus MitraClip was compared to therapy alone, it was found that there was a 47% decrease in heart failure, as well as a 38% decline in mortality.
