    Alumni Updates

Baylor University Medical Center at Dallas (BUMC) Graduate Medical Education program alumni across various specialties are doing great things in medicine and health care across the country.

OB/GYN

Most physicians join an existing practice straight out of residency, before possibly starting their own practice. Bianca Caram, MD, and Shruti Benjamin, MD, (OB/GYN ’16) took the road less traveled and opened their own practice here at BUMC, Legacy Women’s Health, right out of residency. Tiffany Garcia, MD, and Kathleen Cammack, MD, also members of last year’s graduating class, joined existing practices in North Texas and are members of the Baylor Scott and White Health medical staff. They all look forward to serving the needs of North Texas women and delivering Baylor babies for decades to come!

Internal Medicine

Gates Colbert, MD, (Internal Medicine, ‘13) returned to BUMC in 2015 to join Kidney and Hypertension Associates of Dallas. He has been appointed as a core faculty member to the BUMC Nephrology Fellowship Program. He also serves as a teaching attending to the Internal Medicine residents and Texas A&M Health Science Center medical students. Dr. Colbert greatly enjoys being back at the program that trained him, and paying it forward. He also participates in the Texas Medical Association’s Leadership College training in health care advocacy for patients and physicians.

In 2016, Andrew Fenves, MD, (Internal Medicine, ’79) was name the “Best Nephrology Teaching Attending” by the Nephrology fellows at the MGH/BWH joint renal fellowship program, which has 10 first-year fellows.

Radiology

Congratulations to Cody Quirk, MD, (Radiology, ‘16) for earning the Roentgen Resident/Fellow Research Award from the Radiologic Society of North America.

This prestigious award is presented to residents and fellows for outstanding radiologic research by demonstrating dedication and commitment to the field through scientific paper presentation at regional and national meetings; publication in peer-reviewed journals; research grant recipients or contributors to successful research programs; and other similar research activities.
